The Camelot Wheel.
Mixes that never clash.

Every key on one wheel. Tap the key your track is in and the wheel shows you exactly which keys blend with it — no music theory degree required. This is the single most useful thing a DJ can learn.

How it works

Why some keys just fit.

Two songs in keys that are musically close share most of the same notes — so when you blend them, your ears hear one smooth piece of music instead of two songs fighting. The Camelot Wheel turns that theory into a clock you can read at a glance.

Move 01

Stay put — perfect blend

Same number, same letter as the track playing. Identical key. It will always sound clean — the safest mix there is.

For younger DJsPlay the same colour ring you're already on. Same colour = same key = always safe.
Move 02

±1 — nudge the energy

One step clockwise (+1) lifts the energy a touch; one step back (−1) cools it down. Both are neighbours on the wheel, so they still share loads of notes.

For younger DJsJump to the colour right next to the one you're on. Touching colours are friends.
Move 03

Swap ring — change the mood

Same number, opposite ring. That's the relative major/minor — the same "home" but a brighter (B) or moodier (A) feel. A lovely way to shift the emotion mid-set.

For younger DJsSame colour, but hop to the other ring — inside or outside. It sounds happy-to-moody without clashing.

Pro tip — the +7 energy boost

Once the safe moves feel natural, try the advanced tier the wheel labels for you. +2 jumps two steps for a bigger energy lift, and the classic +7 "energy boost" raises the track by a semitone for a genuine goosebump moment. They're bolder — use them on a build-up or a drop, not a quiet blend.

Know the keys. Now learn the moves.
